Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in State College with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Pennsylvania may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 10 am–6:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Maine Bay & Berry Co. at (814) 954-1560; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. I absolutely love this store! I’m a big fan of eating salmon sashimi, and they have both salmon and yellowfin tuna. The fish is always incredibly fresh, and the salmon is especially rich, fatty, and delicious. Their scallops are also amazing—they taste fresh with a naturally sweet and delicate flavor. For around $50, you can get salmon, yellowfin tuna, and scallops, which is easily enough for two people to have a very satisfying meal. And apparently, my cat loves their fish just as much as I do. Today, as usual, I brought some salmon home. I turned around for literally 10 seconds to grab the soy sauce from the fridge, and when I looked back, my cat was already trying to drag the salmon away.

My partner and I decided to visit Marine Bay and Berry and the surrounding small businesses for the first time. Before going, we had already seen reviews mentioning parking issues, so we made a point to carefully read all the parking signs. We parked in a clearly designated customer parking space, and there were still 4 to 5 empty spots available. Before shopping, we decided to quickly stop into the neighboring coffee shop, Eden Valley. We didn’t want to sit with our coffees, mostly just to see what they offer to pick up when leaving. We had only walked about two car lengths away from our vehicle when a woman came rushing out of Marine Bay and Berry, yelling that we needed to move our car because we weren’t their customers. She never asked if we intended to shop there afterward or gave us a chance to explain. The interaction immediately made us feel unwelcome. At that point, we decided to leave the shopping area altogether. If a business is so focused on policing its parking lot, even when there are plenty of open spaces, instead of working cooperatively with neighboring small businesses, it’s not somewhere I want to spend my money. First impressions matter, and unfortunately ou

It’s honestly wild to me that some businesses seem more concerned with who’s parked outside than who might actually walk through their doors. My friend and I stopped for coffee at Eden Valley and were there for less than 30 minutes. The coffee shop parking was completely full, so we parked in a space that was entirely empty. We came back to a note on the car and a dirty look that felt totally unnecessary. I’ve worked in customer service for years, for the same small business at all locations, and I’ve never understood this mentality. We share parking with a neighboring businesses because we understand that busy times happen and that treating people with basic respect matters more than obsessing over a parking space. Businesses should be more focused on the people who walk through their doors than an empty parking lot. Instead, I left with the impression that protecting unused parking spaces was more important than gaining potential customers. I had actually considered trying this place before, but after that interaction, I won’t be. First impressions matter, and mine was that customer service takes a backseat to parking enforcement. Let me clarify, this is my first review I’ve

I would love to leave zero stars after the treatment I and my family received today from a woman who as it turns out is not even in a position of authority. We parked in front of their establishment in a handicap parking spot with my placard hanging from the mirror that I have because I have Parkinson’s, I went into their store and made a purchase while my family went next door to get our coffee. As we were getting back into the car this woman who parked across the lot walked past me and stopped to ask if I had gotten coffee. I said yes (the cup was still in my hand) and she began to go on a rant telling me that “these parking spots are for my store and you shouldn’t be parked in a handicap spot without a permit, that’s illegal” when I told her that I did make a purchase in the store and pointed out my handicap parking pass and told her that I have Parkinson’s and she has no right to question that she didn’t even offer an apology she just stormed off into the store. I sat for a minute honestly furious at the encounter so I decided to go back in and ask if she was the owner. I spoke with the gentleman who took my money for the item I purchased and asked if she was the owner or manag
